DESCRIPTION: This is an interesting stone, not from the better known deposit just outside of Shakiso, but rather from another near the small village of Web, about 160 km away. During the exploration phase almost no gem quality material came from this deposit and it has since been shut down. I had the opportunity to go through about 50 kilos of material from this pocket during one of my trips over there. Nearly all had a sleepy color and would yield opaque cabs at best, maybe some small melee. I found one single large crystal that caught my eye. About 250 grams in weight and when I lit it with a bright torch at just the right angle the light would pass through the crystal and a small space in the center simply illuminated. It had a glowing color reminiscent of the finest Laguna Paraiba's. I decided to take the chance, and I'm glad I did! After some hours of slowly cutting, grinding and orienting I was able to pull this gem out.
