Description: Absolutely beautiful stone from Opal Butte, origin of some of the most remarkable opals. Cut myself from what little rough I have left from this locality. Famous for the remarkable landscapes complimented by the rare rainbow color plays. Rainbow is a unique form of color play that breaks the light coming into the stone into a haze of colors, and bends the light into prisms that shoot through the stone creating an otherworldly effect. This one is predominantly contra luz, which means the light source needs to be coming from behind the gem to show off the finest color.
